Star Trek Online
I don't know much about this game other than that the company that was developing it went bankrupt and the people that made City of Heroes has taken over the project. There's supposed to be a lot more info about STO coming on August 10th at the annual Star Trek Convention in Vegas. The screenshots are pretty, but I hope its not Age of Conan....in space.

It is pretty but can you imagine how much they will have to spice up the Star Trek Universe to keep it interesting in an MMO setting? Your Federation faction phaser skills would consist of Stun and Kill. That's it! Two buttons! Later in the game, you can craft one of those fancy phaser rifles and you can have Stun 2 and Kill 2! Woot!
Klingons would be much more interesting to play. They can have phasers, bat'leths and tons of different daggers
Everyone starts off with a red shirt, a phaser, 250 credits and a melon.

Why a melon? They have replicators.
I am afraid that this game will be crap though. It looks good, its something I'm excited about, and its going to fail. If for no other reason, its being made by the City of Heroes dudes. That game flopped bigger than hell.

"250 credits and a melon" is a Star Wars Galaxies reference that nobody would get unless they played it in its original Pre-Combat Upgrade state.

You know, City of Heroes may have been a bit dull but City of Villains really stepped it up a notch or two. It's one of the highest ranked, non-fantasy MMOs around. Not that there are a whole lot to pick from in that category.
SWG, EVE, AO, COH/COV, Tabula Rasa and.... um... hmmm. Yeah, see? There you have it.

Well, thats not saying too much. Good, non-fantasy MMOs are few and far between. Tabula Rasa sucks, AO sucked even when it was pay to play, I've heard terrible things about EVE, SWG is past its hay-day. I really wanted to play RF online, but I heard its garbage. I don't even wanna talk about Second Life :P
Although, I really wanted to check out City of Heroes when it first came out, but I heard it wasn't worth it overall.

Don't go to mmorpg.com. Those people think that EVE is god's gift to MMO gamers and they hate WoW.
I tried EVE a few years ago. It sucked. No thanks. RF Online is poop too.

I started my MMO(RPG) experience with City of Heroes... I didn't know any better. My first toon was a MG Blaster named Agent Murphy... then that got old after the first thousand or so Agents I saw running around. My next creation, Irish Stout, an Indestructible/SS tank was the coolest thing ever. It just got too hard to level alone, impossible to find decent groups, PvP sucked once they implemented it, there was no crafting to speak of, and the only upgrades you could get were enhancements you could slot into your existing powers- and once you maxxed those out there wasn't much else to do than get acheivement badges- "Congratulations! You have taken over 1 billion points of damage!!!" Is that something to be proud of?

Heh! Well, if you are a tank, then yes! That is something right there.
